Meet The Sefia's
We’re Paul and Lucy, partners in life, in laughter, and in the mission of helping students soar higher than they ever imagined. Between the two of us, we’ve got over 30 years of tutoring experience, countless cups of coffee, and more stories than we can fit on one page.
Paul is the numbers guy. With a background in Production Engineering, he can untangle the knottiest math problem like it’s a piece of string. (And yes, he still gets excited about fractions, someone has to!) Lucy, on the other hand, comes from Chemical Engineering and found her calling in guiding students through the world of words. Together, math and English are covered, like peanut butter and jelly, but with homework.
We don’t just talk the talk. Both of our daughters earned full rides to college: one to Harvard and the other to Northeastern. So when we say “with the right direction, kids can reach greater heights,” we mean it; we’ve lived it.
What truly keeps us going, though, isn’t just the test scores or the “aha!” moments (though those are great). It’s when we read the heartfelt messages from former students and parents who tell us we made a difference. Those testimonies? They warm our hearts every single time.
At the end of the day, we’re just two down-to-earth people who believe every child has the ability to shine when given the right support.

What We Do
Sefia Tutors is dedicated to enhancing students' test scores, ultimately boosting their chances of securing college acceptances and scholarships. Beyond traditional test preparation, our approach also extends to addressing foundational academic concepts for students who may initially lack them.
In the initial phase, we ensure students are well-versed in essential academic skills. Once these foundational concepts are mastered, we transition to the second phase of our prep program: Score-building. It's crucial to dispel the misconception that test structures mirror regular math and English assessments in school. Achieving high scores on tests demands distinct skills, including effective time management, error analysis, and contextualization, which our program excels at imparting.
Contrary to common expectations, excelling on tests requires skills that differ fundamentally from those needed for standard school assessments. Our program stands out in teaching students the specific skills essential for achieving high scores.
